Your skin responds best to what it recognizes: its own systems. The heart of this treatment is the enzyme masque, which enhances your skin’s productivity in three essential ways:

Hydrolyzing Dead Skin Cells: This process gently liquifies dead cells, making it an ideal option for sensitive skin types that can’t handle harsh exfoliation.
Clearing Out Waste: Over time, leftover molecules accumulate between skin cells like litter on a beach. The enzyme masque clears these away by moving them to the lymphatic system, where they’re eliminated naturally.
Increasing Blood Circulation: To function well, skin cells need nutrients and oxygen delivered by blood flow. Over time, blood flow may decrease as capillaries weaken or collapse. The masque encourages fresh blood to circulate, reinforcing capillaries and delivering renewed nutrients to the surface.

THE EXPERIENCE

This treatment feels a bit different from a spa facial! Since it takes place in a waxing salon, expect upbeat music that may be a bit more lively than typical spa tunes. During the 45 minutes that the enzyme masque hardens, it can feel tight—almost like cement—and you may feel a light pulsing or even your heartbeat in your face. Although this sensation is unique, it’s not painful, and I often find my guests drifting off to sleep.

I’ll make sure you’re comfortable with a relaxing scalp massage and a gentle hair play as the masque sets. Some of the prep products may have distinct smells, so it’s a unique sensory experience! To finish, I apply soothing products with a gentle facial massage, giving you a final touch of relaxation before you head back to the real world.

How long is this service?

Expect to be in the treatment room for 2 hours.

How do I prepare for my first appointment?

Please come in with no little to no makeup on. We generally recommend to save your hair washing day to after the treatment due to the gentle scalp massage. Other than that, come in comfortable clothing where you can easily expose your collar bones, neck, and face. You will need to remove any large earrings and necklace(s) for the treatment.

What skin types and skin issues is this treatment for?

This treatment can be used on all skin types. Because this treatment is focused on improving the health of your skin, it is great for all skin dysfunctions. It is also great as a preventative for those with healthy skin to prevent dysfunctions from starting.

What does the enzyme masque feel like?

The enzyme masque will be on your declote and face for 45 minutes. Over this time the masque will harden, almost like cement. You can open your eyes during this, but it is best not to speak as you will crack the masque. It can get itchy. It is also common to feel your heartbeat in your face. I make these 45 minutes relaxing by performing a gentle scalp massage and playing with your hair throughout this time. Most of my clients either fall asleep or get very close to it.

How do you remove the enzyme masque if it hardens like cement?

The enzyme masque is water soluble, so I use a gentle facial brush with warm water, gentle cleansers, and many hot towels to soften and remove the masque.

I am claustrophobic, will this be too much?

Your eyes can stay open while the masque sits, so you can do things on your phone if that helps. I can also leave the front of your neck without the masque to reduce the feeling of being locked in. And at any time, you can tell me you are done and I will remove the masque, you are in control!

Will one treatment fix my skin's health?

No, if it did I think I would be rich! However, you walk out of the salon with healthier skin than you walked in with. It is recommended to do this treatment monthly to keep your skin healthy and happy.

Can I get this treatment if I am pregnant or breast feeding?

Absolutely!

What is the down time?

Unlike a chemical peel or other exfoliation focused treatments, there is no down time with this treatment (ie. you do not need to avoid the sun after this treatment).

Should I get this done right before a special event?

It is recommended for your first time, to do this a few weeks before any special event in case you experience a purge after your treatment. Just as any other facial treatment, you may experience a break out a few days afterwards as the healthy skin starts to purge. In some cases, you may leave the salon with a more pink/red complexion due to the increased blood flow. This typically fades very quickly.
